About the Club
The Hyde Park Social Club has proudly been on the same premises since 1927, so we must be doing something right!
Twenty clever people with a bit of cash in their back pocket had a vision back in the 1920s to give the hard-working locals a place they could go to have a few beers and chat the night away. So they invested in a little place above Voisins Butchers in Hyde Park Road.
To their delight, it attracted a strong following. People loved the concept and wanted more. So the investors bundled together their assets and forked out on land in St Gabriel's Avenue - where the Hyde Park Social Club was built and now proudly stands.
The club boasts 3 floors, each with its own individual bar, dance floor and seating areas. We also have one small meeting room available for private group meetings. We are licensed to sell alcohol and each bar has a wide selection to choose from. We are licensed to play both live and recorded music, making it an ideal venue for all your party needs. We have also recently carried out refurbishments to numerous areas throughout the club so you will find all of our facilities kept to the highest standards.
The Members Bar.
This bar (at ground floor level) is always open throughout the day from 11am – 11pm Monday to Thursday, 11am - midnight on Friday and Saturday and 11am until 10pm on Sundays. We have a snooker match room, pool room and great darts facilities on this level. There is also a large stage area for our regular Saturday live entertainment. Our members enjoy Sky Sports and BT Sports on 3 large flat screen TV's, air-conditioning and fast, free WiFi.
Our largest function suite (at first floor level) is available for private hire with an occupancy of 120 people. This room is great for all types of events and parties. A fully working bar at one end of the lounge and a full stage at the other that can easily accommodate a DJ. Toilet facilities, air-conditioning, a conservatory chatting area to grab some air away from the bustle of your event, along with fast, free WiFi.
This function suite (at basement level) is available for private hire with an occupancy of approx. 90 people (depending on room layout). It is a perfect room for all types of events and parties. It has a fully working bar at one end of the lounge, a stage at the other that easily accommodates a DJ. Toilet facilities, air-conditioning, a smoking area and disabled access are also on this level along with fast, free WiFi.
The club is easily accessible from Plymouth city centre via all the main bus routes to Mutley Plain which is a 5 minute walk away. Plymouth train station is also nearby or if you are driving we have free parking outside.
We are a members only club and new membership applications are open for 2022. The annual cost of your first years membership is £25. You can download a membership form here, which you need to complete and take into the club with your joining fee. Don't worry too much if you don't have any proposers, please talk to us if that's the case and we can help. We are always open to non-members visiting the club, you can purchase a weekly pass for just £3 and use all of the clubs facilities.
